Park Inc now offers guest valet service for upscale shopping center Perkins Rowe, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. According to Sales and Marketing Director Rebecca Rouse, Perkins Rowe was a perfect fit for Park Inc. “As a high-end, destination oriented shopping, dining, and entertainment hub, mall management wanted a guest experience driven by superior customer service. With thousands of visitors each day, the availability of accessible parking during peak hours frustrated mall management, business owners, and guests. Our complimentary valet parking service addressed this situation, and guests no longer worry about finding a space to park their cars.” Complimentary valet service is available at Perkins Rowe on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5:00pm until midnight.

Complimentary valet parking service is more than just a solution to a lack of nearby accessible parking spaces. Valet makes a statement about your business and your commitment to improving customer satisfaction. In today’s competitive business climate, it is simply not enough to offer the best products and services. Loyal customers aren’t won by chance, but rather, they are the result of a clearly defined plan that is driven by exceeding customer expectations. Great products…great services….fair prices…and impeccable customer service and attention to the guest experience are the building blocks of a successful business. Complimentary valet parking can be an important component in your recipe for success. When considering if complimentary valet service is a good fit for your business, remember:

New customer acquisition is more expensive…and more difficult….than retaining existing customers.

A 10% increase in customer retention can increase business profits by up to 30%.

Most businesses never hear from unsatisfied patrons. Can you count on your customers to tell you they are taking their business elsewhere due to a lack of available parking?

Regardless of whether you are looking for a new valet company, or are considering service for the first time, the professional parking management experts at Park Inc welcome the opportunity to show how attention to the guest experience can grow your business. To request a quote, or to learn more about complimentary valet parking service, contact Park Inc for more information.

Most people recognize a valet when they see one. Valet parking attendants are common fixtures at the entrances to busy restaurants, clubs, airports, hotels, and more. Sometimes valet parking attendants are employees of the business establishment. In other instances, valets are actually employees of parking management companies such as Park Inc. We offer valet parking service to a wide range of businesses from small family owned restaurants to large clients such as Charlotte Douglas International Airport and the University of Tennessee Medical Center. These locations include standard valet, business valet, shuttle buses, traffic controllers, parking garage management, and much more.

Employees at Park Inc go through weeks of training in preparation for their assignments. Our professional parking attendants are extensions of your business; the first and last impressions guests associate with your facility and employees. Although most of our clients recognize the value valet parking service adds to their guest experience, here are some additional fun facts about valet service:

Male customers tip better than female customers; however, female valets make better tips.

Roughly 65% of parkers believe that valets take fancy cars out for joyrides, but in reality, our valets are forbidden from doing so.

Many valet parking patrons are unsure how much to tip; most tip an average of $3.00 based on friendliness and politeness.

The number one reason companies have valet is scarce parking; customers use valet parking service for convenience.

Park Inc sets itself apart from the competition by offering additional, value added services including dry cleaning, oil changes, and car detailing.

Herb Citron is credited with creating the idea of the modern valet. He started out in 1946 at Lawry’s Prime Rib restaurant in Los Angeles. He wore a uniform consisting of a red jacket and bowtie and charmed customers with his good manners.

About three-quarters of drivers tip better in inclement weather.

Valets dislike the rain more than cold.

Having valet operations at a restaurant or hotel can increase your customer based star rating on sites such as Yelp and Google Reviews, taking you from a four to a five.

Most drivers using a valet service wait approximately nine minutes for their car to be retrieved before becoming agitated, but close to half of the drivers between the ages of 18 and 34 begin to get impatient after one to five minutes.

The three most expensive cities for valet parking are New York, Honolulu, and San Francisco.

In 2004, an ordinary Manhattan valet became not so ordinary when he won $149 million in the Mega Millions lottery; at the time he only had 78 cents in his bank account.

Valet parking service is good for your customers and good for your business too. To learn more about offering valet parking services at your business or facility, contact Park Inc for more information.

Park Inc now manages crossing guard services for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, the largest school district in the Carolinas. Currently, we have nearly 50 guards helping us provide this service. I recently sat down with our Crossing Guard Coordinator, Tamara Davis, and asked her some questions about her role.

-How long have you been a crossing guard supervisor?
I have been the crossing guard supervisor since 2009. This is my 3rd school year.

-What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of the job is working with the Administrators, parents, staff and children at our schools. Their tireless commitment to educating children makes me work harder to ensure they arrive safely. The children remind me everyday why our job is so imperative.

-What is the hardest part of this job?
The hardest part of this position is wanting to be in so many locations at the same time and manage personnel simultaneously. Every day is a careful balancing act to ensure each school in Charlotte Mecklenburg School District has the attention they require. So far, it has worked well.

-What is the most important part of a crossing guard’s job?
The most important part of a crossing guard’s job is to be present. Not just present physically but mentally as well. If a guard is preoccupied or not paying attention, it could lead to oversights in their service. We pride ourselves in exceptional service to the children of CMS.

-What kind of personality traits do you look for when hiring crossing guards?
The traits I look for in for crossing guard applicants are to be cognizant of traffic laws, approachable, kind, and have the ability to communicate properly and respectfully with individuals of various ages and levels of management. All of these traits are paramount to their success as a crossing guard.

Hiring an outside vendor to manage your parking services can be a daunting task, given the fact that there are literally thousands of valet parking companies in the U.S. While each customer segment has its own unique challenges (employee parking at hospitals, top notch valet service for casinos, efficiency at curbside valet for airports, etc.) there are a few standard questions you should ask when interviewing potential vendors:

1. Is your company a member of the National Valet Parking Association?

If the answer is yes, then you can rest assured that this is a quality company that is committed to abiding by a strict set of guidelines set forth by the NVPA. These standards involve claims handling, security, insurance requirements, employee training guidelines and more. Only a handful of companies are members of the NVPA.

2. Are you insured?

A Certificate of Insurance can and should be provided by any quality parking management provider. Always ask a potential valet parking service company for a certificate of insurance that lists you as an additional insured on the valet company’s policy. Standard levels of coverage should include the following:

General Liability, providing for any mishap causing personal injury, either by premises or attendant. Policy limit: $2,000,000

Garage Keepers Liability, providing coverage for any property damage, such as collision or theft of vehicles. Policy limit: $1,000,000.

Employee Dishonesty Coverage, protects your business from claims for loss of and loss from damage to, covered property such as money, equipment, or security. Policy limit: $500,000.

Umbrella Liability, to provide excess coverage for General Liability in the amount of $10,000,000.

3. How do you screen potential employees?

All valet parking attendants should be screened through several different processes to ensure only quality valets represent your organization .This should include screening for criminal background, driving history, and drug use. In addition, basic personality traits that are consistent with those of successful employees should be actively sought out.

4. How long have you been in business?

Since there are so many parking companies out there, it is important to work with a company that has been in business for a substantial number of years and has an established track record. Ultimately, you want to find a partner, not just a vendor.

5. Will you provide references?

In addition to having been in business for a while, your prospective vendor should be able to provide you with references. These references should be relevant to your service needs and should include current contact information.

In August, Park Inc began offering a brand new service. We are now offering crossing guard services for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, the largest school district in the Carolinas. Currently, we have nearly 50 guards helping us provide this service.

Park Inc is fortunate to have Tamara Davis heading up this program. She has been the crossing guard supervisor for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police for the past several years and her experience has proved to be invaluable to our success in taking over this service. In addition, we have retained a majority of the guards from previous years. Each is dedicated to their work and love working with all the kids. We have been thoroughly impressed with how much the crossing guard staff truly cares about the work they do.

As we gain experience in this new venture, we would like expand our crossing guard service expand into other markets. The school system has been pleased with the seamlessness of the transition. With most of the schools on a tight budget these days, outsourcing crossing guard service is an option that more and more will consider. If you have knowledge school systems in your respective areas that have crossing guard services, please let Becca Rouse, rouser@parkinc.com, in our corporate office know. We would love to add this service to schools near you.

Sedgefield hosted the very first year the championship began in 1938 when it was established as the Greater Greensboro Open, making Wyndham the seventh oldest event on the PGA Tour.

This year, the Wyndham Championship began on August 15th and lasted until August 21st, with the last two days of the event selling out. As the week progressed, the amount of tickets sold and cars parked increased. Throughout the week, Park Inc provided 16 valets in order to maintain superior valet services. The valets that serviced the Wyndham Championship included a mixture of employees from the Greensboro area, as well as, the Charlotte area. Park Inc will be returning next year for the 75thannual Wyndham Tournament.

The Wyndham Championship isn’t the only tournament on the PGA Tour where we provide valet services. The company also services Quail Hollow for the PGA Tour tournament that it hosts, the Wells Fargo Championship. The Wells Fargo Championship originates back to 2003 when it was first called the Wachovia Championship.

As Park Inc continues to grow throughout the United States, so does the corporate office. We are proud to welcome three new colleagues to the corporate office. Amurra Bey has become the face and voice of Park Inc, as she has joined the administration team and taken the ever important role of front desk office administrator. Before coming to the corporate office, Amurra was employed at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport as the office administrator for over a year. At the airport she assisted in overseeing our curbside valet, business valet, and shuttle services. We are glad to welcome her to the corporate office, and appreciate all of her hard work that she has done and continues to do for Park Inc. Not so new to the corporate office, Colin Madden has rejoined the accounting team and has retained his prior position as one of our staff accountants. He first came aboard in June of 2007. Colin works hard to make sure everything runs smoothly financially. We have missed him dearly and we are glad to see him back in the office. Last but not least, Park Inc would also like to welcome Christina Wilbanks to the team. As a newcomer to Park Inc, Christina has expanded our marketing and sales department as our marketing assistant. She has embraced the duty of inside sales for shuttle services, valet services, parking lot/garage management, and much more. She also supports the marketing team by managing minor marketing duties. Christina has helped alleviate the abundance of everyday tasks to ensure that all of our potential clients get the same quality service. We welcome our new employees at the corporate office in Charlotte, NC and would like to sincerely thank them for all of their hard work in helping Park Inc grow and prosper.”

Recently we had a call from a security director at a large hospital in the southeast and he invited us to visit their facilities and discuss parking management options. Upon arrival, the hospital was undergoing a major expansion and the campus was dotted with bulldozers and construction trucks. As first time visitors we were already unsure where to park, and the construction made it just a bit more difficult for us to get to our appointment. As we toured the buildings with the director, he shared that declining patient satisfaction scores seemed to stem from the lack of adequate accessible parking. After finishing the tour of the hospital we asked for detailed information regarding the parking situation, and put together a proposal to would boost the patient satisfaction scores and, ultimately, retain customers.

At Park Inc, our approach to hospital parking management is far different from managing parking for a hotel, casino, shopping center or airport. Folks do not visit hospitals by choice. The circumstances that prompt hospital visits are not the same as the circumstances that might lead customers to the mall or a hotel. We understand the need for compassion. When assembling our team, we look for quick and efficient employees. But just as importantly we look for employees who truly care and want to help your patients and visitors. All of our parking solutions, including valet, shuttle service, and lot / garage management represent a patients’ first impression of your hospital, and we set the tone for their visit. And we work with you to determine just how they see us. We can blend in and look like an employee of the hospital, or we can supply employees with Park Inc uniforms to represent a separate service. We’re flexible!

In addition to our impeccable customer service skills, we are one of only a handful of parking companies belonging to the National Valet Parking Association. In other words, we are held to a high set of standards that include safety, claims handling, customer service, security and more. You can read more about the NVPA at www.nvpaonline.com. For a no obligation quote or for more information on how Park Inc might be a good fit for your hospital or health care system, please call Becca Rouse at (704)377-1755 or email rouser@parkinc.com.
